When I arrived at our meeting place, I was a bit disheveled. Having planned on leaving a bit early (I hate being late!), I went out to my garage to get my car and found that the garage door would not open! It had been dented during the day by high winds and even disconnecting the electric garage door opened would not allow me to lift it. I was VERY upset, thinking that you might think I had changed my mind about meeting you...or think it was all just a joke. Neither one of us had cell phones at the time and I knew you were probably already on your way, so there was no way to reach you.
I was dressed nicely, although casually. I was wearing a really nice hunter green suede jacket because the April day was windy and chilly. It was my favorite jacket, but I still decided to ram the door with my shoulder over and over again. This was to bend it back out enough to just get the darn thing to open! I was still pretty strong at that time and after about ten times of running from the back of the garage and hitting the door as hard as possible, the dent was pushed out enough to manually lift the door! I couldn't close it again though, which bothered me....but not enough to keep me home! I had been looking forward to our meeting for over two weeks, as we had been talking for hours on the phone almost every evening.
After driving like a crazy woman to the cozy little bar we had agreed upon, about halfway between our homes, I was nervous, excited and still frustrated about having to leave my garage door up. I had locked the house door, of course....but wasn't used to leaving that door open when I wasn't home. I had some comfort though, in that I lived out in the country right next door to my close friends. Someone there was ALWAYS home and would keep an eye out on my place as a matter of course.
I walked into the bar and there you sat, with a glass of red wine. You were looking down and I had the chance to have a good look. Immediately I thought, "CUTE!". Hoping I didn't look TOO mussed, I walked over and watched your face as it lit up warmly. You looked fairly pleased with my looks, but you could tell I was upset about something. After our initial hug and greeting, you asked. I explained my problem with the garage door and you gave me the name of a reputable company whom you had used before and told me the prices were reasonable and the work was sound.
We had such a good time together....sitting and talking over dinner in the eating area of our meeting place. Afterward (the restaurant closed at 10pm), we went to a local place that was open until 2am and drank hot cocoa because I was SO cold! You were warm and funny and had plenty to say about all sorts of subjects. I was so pleased because before this I hadn't met a man who had much to say about anything except for sports. We had the perfect first date and even kissed before heading off to our respective homes.
